NATIONAL OFFICER SPOTLIGHT:

Phyllis H. Shumate -
National President Elect |
Greetings Sorors,
Thank you for your
confidence in electing me as your National President Elect.
Our National President
has given me this opportunity to acquaint you with some of the
duties of my office. As President Elect, I am privileged to work
with individual chapters in implementing our programs, projects, and
youth activities, as listed below. I am also responsible for
securing judges for our national essay contest and scholarship
awards. All essays and scholarship applications should be mailed to
me on or before the deadlines.

Iota’s Mothers Career Assistance Project (IM-CAP)
I am asking each of you
to actively participate in all of our programs and projects as they
assist us in advancing the goals and aims of our Founder, Lola
Mercedes Parker. In addition, your participation allows us to rise
to the challenge of our National President, Doris Browning Austin:
to act together to effect change for African American women.
As your National
President Elect, I am committed to serving to you, my sisters, and
our sorority. I look forward to our reaching greater opportunities,
more efficiently than ever, as we move upward and onward. And
remember, I’m just a phone call – or an e-mail –
away.
"What often stops our aspirations from turning into real
possibilities
is a lack of belief and a shortage of effort."

Sisterly,
Phyllis H. Shumate
