NATIONAL PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
“Iota Women of Vision Committed To Action And Global Connection In The Twenty-First Century”
My dear Sorors,
Founder Lola Mercedes Parker executed a vision of an organization of business women endowed with the foresight to bring together a group of women who believed in a common cause – that of adding prestige to the field of business. This cause would unify these women whose distinct goal was not only that of organizing to make a difference in the workforce, economics, and social status of African American women but also that of bringing together a sisterhood.
Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. supports the aims of this sisterhood, and at the same time, opens wide the doors for membership while maintaining the reins of Iota’s established agenda. We are growing and we must grow, but in so doing, we must not lose sight of the prize. We must not lose sight of Iota’s purpose, its mission and Bylaws, nor the framework under which it was conceived. Let us be guided by our visions to mobilize our efforts for the good of Iota; view the bigger picture on the screen before us. Despite our best intentions and best efforts, we cannot go it alone. We cannot work independently of each other and we cannot work independently of our chapter, of our region, or of our national body.
Let us continue to build and revel in this institution of sisterhood. Let us reach out and touch each other a little more, love each other a little more, work together a little more, and of equal importance, share in each other’s interests and visions. Know that no organization grows without the desire of its members to share in the passion of its movement. Thus, in our quest to build a stronger sisterhood within Iota, may our spirits be that of unconditional bonding, for sisterhood is at the root of it all and it makes all the difference.
