“Iota Women Of Vision Committed To Action And Global Connection In The Twenty-First Century”
My dear Sorors,
As we traverse through each day of this period of history, we find ourselves in the arms of a power that is greater than we. This day in Iota is a period of commitment and an expression of our belief in a cause.
This is a day of assessment and reassessment, reflection and renewal. It is a significant and humble day that Iota sorors assemble at a preconceived moment to reaffirm our commitment to a legacy and to an organization of women of the 21st Century. This is the beginning of another period of renewal and acting out the true meaning of what dedication and loyalty to this organization truly mean to each of us. At this moment of reflection, we also display our genuine humility for a sisterhood steeped in tradition but flexible enough for positive change.
Sorors, let us be guided by our visions to mobilize our efforts for the good of Iota; view the big picture before us and pray for God to direct our path and lead us according to His will. Let us pray for understanding and for the blessings of a committed organization. Let our relationships be that of sorors talking to each other about ways of building up instead of tearing down; keeping the peace instead of causing dissension; and sharing ideas, information and resources, engaging, and creating. As true sisters, our goal(s) should be that of supporting each other, thereby, strengthening Iota. Equally importantly, inherent in our creed is to always be a part of what is right and just. Power play is non-essential. We need to be real. We need to see that what is happening is real; that this moment in Iota’s history is the moment for embracing its mission as we make some things happen differently for a stronger and committed Iota.
As Iota continues to grow, and with a renewed commitment and an undiminished fervor for the love of Iota, remember the words of a great writer, “Long for a time when friendship and love are important and the best parts of our lives. We are traveling through time into the future. If you continue to climb mountains you will be able to stand above the hills, and you will see the horizon in all directions.”
Sisterly with love,
Doris Browning Austin
