Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Incorporated, a business and professional women’s organization, is committed to supporting students seeking to further their business and professional careers through the means of higher education. Iota Phi Lambda Sorority further supports its tax exempt affiliates in their efforts to promote higher education, economic independence and entrepreneurship.

The Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Education Fund, established in 1979, has 501-C-3 tax exempt status on the national level.  The purpose of the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Education Fund is:

  • To promote and distribute Iota Phi Lambda Sorority National Scholarships and Awards.
  • To make distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)-(3) of the Internal Revenue Code for education and charitable purposes.
  • To promote interest in business education among high school and college students through planned educational programs.
  • To plan and carry out educational programs.

 

Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Scholarships and Awards

  •  The FREDDA WITHERSPOON National Scholastic SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually to a female graduating high school senior wishing to pursue a college degree in business related fields.
  • NATIONAL FIL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually to a deserving FIL pursuing a degree in the field of business.
  • The ALICE P. ALLEN SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a teenage mother desiring to further her education beyond high school.
  • The DORETHEA N. HORNBUCKLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a youth pursuing a degree in the field of business, science or engineering.
  • The Evelyn D. Wilkey Iota Essay Contest is an annual essay writing contest for youth.
