From The National President:
“Iota Women Of Vision
Committed To Action And Global Connection In The Twenty-First
Century”
My
dear Sorors,
Who are we? Where are
we going? We are visionaries whose visions, commitment and actions
make clear our purpose. As we approach the beginning of another
year, I, the twentieth National President, am filled with optimism, enthusiasm
and an anxious desire to continue to make things happen in Iota Phi
Lambda Sorority, Inc.
The gleam from a beacon
was visualized in 1929 and set in motion by an astute woman of power
and vision, Founder Lola M. Parker. The beacon was sparked by
nineteen former National Presidents who used the light to engage the
talents of Iota to build on a foundation for Iota’s enviable record
of leadership, commitment, and action.
Because Iota is a
national business and professional women’s organization whose core
is built on unity of purpose, the National President, the National
Executive Board, and our Sorors are enthusiastically committed to
solidifying our efforts to effect change to achieve even greater
success. We recognize that with the enormous challenges of the
twenty-first century, the horizons of women are widening from home
to humanity and from our private families to other families, and we,
as Iota women are prepared and empowered to play a significant role.
Sorors, let us be
guided by our visions to use our talents and assets to mobilize
our potentials for the good of Iota, our auxiliaries; and provide our youth with opportunities for leadership development
and scholarship; improve networking and technology skills; encourage
entrepreneurship; challenge social and economic inequality; and
connect globally during this 21st Century via recruitment and
world-class leadership.
We must continue to be excited
about Iota and be ever mindful that each of us is the strongest link
in our chain.
Sisterly with love,
Doris
Doris Browning Austin,
Ph.D.
20th National President
